I just shipped a car from San Diego to Ohio. I had to do a lot of learning fast as the car shipping industry is a mine field.
I went with Reliable. They were enclosed and they do not broker shipping.
Many companies use Brokers that are independent and you have no clue where or who has your car. Many of these drivers are new to America and communicating can be an issue.
Uship. Is a broker deal. Keep away. Risks are high.
Use only companies that have their own trucks unless it is a parts car or something not really valuable.
As to how soon they can ship call. That is the only way to know.
Also watch lowers bidders. Get the best deal with a known company that has their own trucks. Use the web site in the video to confirm they are still using their own fleet.
Not Reliable was not the cheapest but they were cheaper than others. If I recall it was like $900 to ship my car. I would need to check but that is what I recall.
IF you use USHIP or anything of the sort...
...ONLY talk directly to a shipper. F a broker. They will F you EVERY time.
They will give you a price, and then the night before, call you with a demand of 20-30% price increase, if not more. They end up F'ing the broker and you, because they are trying to squeeze both ends of the deal, them cheaper, and you more expensive; all to increase their profit obviously.
In the mean time, you have laid all of your groundwork and made commitments, plans, etc., and they use this to underhanded pressure you into the 'new deal'. F 'em!
Contact my good friend Kyle at https://www.facebook.com/p/GoFast-Inc , and see if he can help you. He does high end private white glove service of basically anything, PERSONALLY.
Find entity type field and then look to see if they are are a shipper or broker. It will list the number of trucks owned and number of employees.
Some of the old companies like Horsless Carriage etc will show trucks in their adds but they were sold out and are run by brokers.
All this is in the video above and take the risk out of it.
Car shipping is a very deceptive industry in representation and advertising.
Another good way to choose is who do the MFGs use for their show cars and high end models. Vipers, Ford GT and other cars were all delivered by Reliable. When we got show or prototype cars in from GM they were all Reliable too.
I had a car shipped from NJ to NKY using Dispatch Dudes that came highly recommended on Corvette FB group... they show all these fancy cars being loaded in pristine aluminum enclosed trailers all over their social media...I specifically asked that the driver is a paid employee of DD and that it will NOT be a broker and they confirmed this was the case.
Yea well long story short...it was brokered out to some hot shot and the car arrived on a beat to hell enclosed trailer pulled by a clapped out F250 and it didn't even have a cross pin in the trailer latch...
Car showed up in one piece but I was NOT a happy camper. If I ever do it again, I'm going with a big company like Reliable and I'll pay more for the lower stress level.
