I'm planning to track my new to me C5 in the next coming months and was hoping to get some insight on the best tow straps to buy, as well as the best way to tow the car. I did some searching and left more confused than when I started to be honest lol - probably a me issue, but as this will be my first time really towing, I'd like to make sure I get it right.
I got a 20ft open trailer, and I was considering either via axle straps on the control arms, or through the wheels. I don't REALLY want to go tire nets as the car is going to be lowered at some point, and I'm unsure how feasible that'll be. I also worry that the wheels I have don't have a wide enough gap to make sure the strap isn't on any of the spokes, but I'll do some measurements when I get home.
Any feedback is helpful! This is my first "forum" post too so I'll try and get a picture of the car here too lol
4-corner over the tire tie down is safest, most secure.
Any strapping over the control arms means it isn't as secure because the car moving as you go down the road means the control arms are moving against the straps.
Would use axle straps to pull, and wheel straps while it's in tow. As for lowering, mine is very low, was towed recently, and a pro showed up with rubber racing trailer ramps to get the car up, onto the trailer deck.
I have used these for years, there is the factory transport tie down slots in the frame of the car. Hook them in, run through your ratchet tie down and your done.

Probably a dumb question, but this is where you'd put the pucks to lift the car right? I heard of people doing this but I was afraid it didn't have enough "hold" for it. Very interesting though, thank you!

That is where the pucks are placed. Double Duty, back in the day this is where the transporter secured the car to the Haulers. It is designed into the car frame so it is the strongest and most balanced place to tie down the cars. The pucks were a secondary option for jacking the car if necessary.
If you look at any car there are places for the transporters to tie down the cars built in to the frames, sub bodies or attached holders (Foreign) This will always be the most secure way to haul them.
That being said, there is times depending on the trailer where it can be a major PITA to get to the spot, so tying into the tires or suspension is much easier to reach. Look at the A Frames and Axels as your best points. If you elect to go throught the wheels, MAKE SURE you use the straps that have the sliding sleave on the strap, don't go direct it can scratch/rub mark your rim.

I use Mac's straps. Pricey but well worth it. If you're tracking the car you should have bolt-in pucks (ZL1 Addons) at your jacking points so using that location for strapping isn't an option. Hopefully your truck is robust enough for towing duties also. https://www.macscustomtiedowns.com/s...oaAnzXEALw_wcB
