Where can I get technical specs on the engine. Does it have a roller cam, 4 bolt mains, cam lift and duration, etc., etc. I really want to know everything I can about the car and engine. This morning I finally got a good view of the under side when I disabled my CAGS. It was an easy mod. I was amazed how flat it was under there. Just like a race car. Even the exhaust system was tucked up inside for better aerodynamics. A pretty amazing car at that. My car has 6K and the oil life expectancy shows 96%. I was not able to find out if the oil and filtor has been changed because I bought it off of a dealer and they could not tell me. Should I change it anyway?
Go to http://www.sae.org and order paper number 97015. This was written by GM engines in 1997 and discusses the design of the LS1 in detail.
The LS6 is the same basic engine with improved heads, a different cam, and other detail differences.
While you're ordering the paper, why not order booket SP-1282. It's a series of six SAE papers that descibe, in detail, the design of the whole car, and is a real wealth of informantion.
