Default halltech t1-c need a little help?

I installed a halltech on my 03 z06 a couple of days ago. I did the idle relearn and I currently have driven about 20 miles. The car now feels more sluggish than with the stock system. Is this possible?

the car doesn"t seem to pulls as hard now. I am not sure as to what the problem is I have checked all the connections and they are good. I have no codes being thrown. I checked the elbow to see if it is installed right and it is. Is it possible the idle relearn has not taken effect yet. I have an 02 black couple with a vortex on it and I didnt wait for the idle relearn to see performance improvement. Any ideas guys would be great. thanks

Could be.

Not possible. That has nothing to do with performance anyway.

Make sure that your MAF is aligned correctly.

what do you mean correctly. it looks close to the original position I think. it is diffently put in the correct way. I can tell that off the flow arrow at the top. It could be a little tilted I guess One way or the other. If that is what you are talking about do you know the position it should be in. Thanks

If you have only driven 20 miles I would keep driving. It took me about 100 miles before I started noticing a difference. You'll know when it happens.

:iagree:
The Halltech instructions even say it will feel sluggish for 50 miles or so.

did my 50 miles and still doesnt seem to pull hard. it doesn't pull at all in the higher rpm's. So tonight I stuck my stock system back on with no idle relearn just a quick drive around town and there is a big difference. the car just runs better with the stock system. dont know why. I would love for the halltech to work it is a great looking system but I am starting to think that even if it can make some additional hp up high you wpuld lose some in the lower rpm range. I am also starting to think you need some tuning of the air fuel to get the claimed hp. these are my thought right now. If someone has something to change my mind on this please post here. because I really would like for this to work.

Did anyone feel that the car slowed down with this system. I understand about driving the car to get the pcm to relearn and the 50 or 100 miles I understand that to. The guys posting that have this system did you see a decrease or just not an increase right away.

thanks guys.

Golfman; I have installed five Halltech on not only my own cars, but several forum members at our various mod days, and EVERY SINGLE car responding incredibly well. Air leaks are the most common problem. Example, on my 50th car after installation I was experiancing a lot of knocking, and I like you thought there must be a problem with the unit. After talking to Jim, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and reinstalled the unit. VIola, huge power increase and no knocking. Whether you install a Halltech or any of the other fine intakes - the C5 DOES respond to that mod. Suggest that you carefully check the installation. Wish I was in your area, I would be happy to help.

When I first installed my T1C I did notice a decrease in power. I drove it for the specified 50 miles and I still didn't notice anything. Then I just kept driving. I was a little worried just like you but I kept the miles rolling. I don't know exactly how many miles it was but it was over 100 before I noticed a difference. My advice as other people have said is check your installation and then drive and then drive a little more. The power will come.

TOME, I thank you for offering your help. I think I have installed this unit correctly 3 time now. I have read many post in regards to it and I am sure it is a good system. I think that either the system I have is defective in some way or my z is extremely rich from the factory. I will be switching to the vortex rammer with air bridge since that is what is on my 02 coupe now, and I know it works well. If I have made a mistake in installation I think installing a system that I have done before and know to work well will take that possibality out . If for some reason the car reacts the same than I will dyno tune for air fuel mix to figure it out.

Thank you again for your offer.
