Default NEWBIE HERE

First I want to say what a great forum I have found this to be. Its entertaining while at the same time its very informative.

I am about to graduate college and thanks to some scholarships I didnt have to pay to go. So during some summer internships I saved up enough money to make a substantial down payment on a Z06. My questions are the following:

How reliable are these z06's? Could I use this car as my everyday driver without any problems? Should I stay clear of used ones because you dont know what the previous owners has done to it and the break in period is very important on these cars?

Finally based on your knowledge of z06's which would you choose?

1) Get 2002 z06 (under 2k miles) $325/month
2) Get 2003 zo6 (under 500 miles) $400/month
3) Get NEW z06 $425/month
4) Sounds like you cant afford a z06.

Thanks in Advance

Tom

Welcome to the board. I dont hav a Z06 right now because my insurance would be too high. But anyways, they are very reliable cars. You can use it as a daily driver if you wanted. One of my friends has a Z06 and uses it as a daily driver. Staying clear of used ones is up to you. Just look it over real well and test drive it if they will let you. Breaking it in is important like it is on all vehicles. If I was in your shoes I would get the new '03 Z06. But like I said right now inusrance is to high for me on a Z06, thats why I have a coupe right now. :chevy

I would choose option #3.

My opinion.

I'm kinda partial to breaking in the car myself and being the only one behind the wheel.

Go fig.

Whatever you do, don't forget the "wave" man. Very important. Trust me.

#3. or second choice would be #2.

Right now GM is offering 0% for 60 month vs 36 month when I bought my 2003 Z06 around Oct of last yr.

#3 is hard to beat as stated above with the interest free financing.

How much are you going to put down? Number 3 sounds like the best way to go though!

Tom,

Just a thought - if you really want to keep total cost down I'd look for a low mileage 2001 Z. They are great cars, prices are down (relatively) and they have plenty of performance. Good luck and whatever Z you chose you'll be happy.

Get an 02 or newer. I've had every problem there was with the 01s, and while Chevy has/is fixing them, it's still a pain to deal with. If it were me, I'd go for the 0% on the new ones if your credit is good enough to get it. Otherwise, I personally would love to have an 03 Z06. Even though it's not an anniverssary edition, it's still the 50th year for the car. :D
