I'm thinking of going over to the dark side and buying a new '03 MY Z06. I think it's a buyers market right now. The car I want lists for $53k and the dealer has a $6k markup sticker. I think a really good price would be $49k minus the $2k rebate for a final price of $47k. Is this realistic...too much to pay...or "pie in the sky" dreaming? What is the bottom line pricing people are paying for these cars right now? TIA
I just got mine Friday (4/11) for 46.5K, but i was friends with the manager and he gave me a good deal. I would take the 0% financing instead of the cash. You'll save more money in the long run and the dealer is more likely to take an offer of above invoice. It works out to about the same payment for you. For example. If you got it for 47K. This means you'll be paying about 49.5K with taxes and everything. With a 6% loan for 72 months your payment is $820 and you end up paying 59K for the car after the 6 yrs. Now if you made an offer of say 48.5K which would be about 51K with taxes and such, but with the 0% GMAC financing, your payment would be $850 and you end up paying only 51K. So your payment is only $30 more/mo and you end up paying 8K less over all. And best of all, your more likely to get the offer accepted of 48.5 over 47 because the dealership makes 1500 more on the sale.
Just my $0.02. Hope my math is correct.
TAC I think its still a buyer's market . I took the 0% but I also got a good discount from Kerbeck in NJ. Your welcome to email me and ill send you the info if you want to compare.... Jacqueline :)

49K take the 0% and put as little down as they'll let you and keep your money in the bank, the General really wants you business :lolg: :lolg: in my book a 0 % loan is as good as it gets
I would not pay a dime more then $48k and 0% for 60mo.
I got mine from Maxie Price chevy in Atlanta(Rick Daniel)- hugh vette dealer- for $46500 back in October. You might have to go to one of the big dealers across the country- the ones within a hr of my house would not come down but like $1k off sticker and some wanted more then sticker and would not sell for less- so I drove 4hrs to atlanta and picked one up fo the price I was willing to pay.
TAC.
THE DEALER THAT TOLD YOU NO ONE WALKED AT 3 K OVER STICKER
IS SO FULL OF poopie IT'S UNBELEIVABLE!!
DETROIT AREA DEALERS ARE SELLING THOSE CARS ON AND OFF ,QUITE OFTEN FOR EMPLOYEE PRICING TO EVERYONE. MORE OFTEN IN FALL OR WINTER BUT RESALE IS'NT GOOD ON THEM,DON'T PAY TOO MUCH!!
WAIT,WAIT WAIT, THEY'LL COME DOWN.
It is a buyer's market and you can get a Z06 heavily discounted. I got one last August for relatively little above invoice, and the market has gotten even softer since.
Being blunt, the C5 (even the Z) is a car at the end of its model run and the economy is beyond weak.

I bought mine last June (2002)when they were offering 2.9% for 48 and paid 48K. that means the dealer made about 4K. The car was stickered at 51 and change including destination charge. I think that's probably fair for that kind of car. Remember they are in business to make money. :D There are at least 2 dealers in Maryland that don't add gizillions to the sticker. When I was looking some had as much as 10G's added over sticker. :boxing What losers...
They want to be like Ford Dealers who are trying very hard to kill the T-Bird with mark-ups over sticker as high as 15G's. I guess that's the American way!
