With warm, window down weather here, I am noticing not only the increased brake dust, but also irritating brake squeeks on all 4 corners of my new Z06. Neither of these quirks were on my '01 Z06. Anyone have these problems, did the dealer fix them, or should I on my own just change to the '01 brake pads that I know were different from the '02-'03 models?
I've noticed the squeeks too; minor at best and seem to happen only as the car rolls the last few inches to a stop. Lots of dust on the front wheels, but I think [as said before] that's the price for high performance brakes. Less than 1600 miles on the car so I'm going to give it some time, see how it goes. Right now I don't think it's worth worrying about.
OMG my car squeeks so bad...makes me feel like im driving a ragg or something i HATE it...what should i do take it to the dealer ?!? or just replace the pads and rotors ?!?
It makes me feel bad when i drive a basically brand new 03 Z06 and when i come to a stop i almost bust people's eardrums with my brakes

Re: '03 brake dust/squeeks
Two options:
1) Switch to Ceramic pads for street use and save the stock pads for racing.
2) Get over it!
Seriously though, a lot of owners are using the ceramic pads on the street and say they are great. No noise and very little dust. As easy as the fronts are to change (takes about 10 minutes per side including wheel removal), I'd try the fronts and see what result it has. That's probably where most of the squeel is coming from. I really didn't have a problem with my 01 pads, nor have I had a problem with the Perfromance Friction Z rated pads that I'm running now. Let me rephrase that, I haven't had a squeeling problem, both the stock 01 pads and especially the PF Z pads dust a good bit.
These work great on a 4,700 lb Lightning. Have had them on for 4K--no noise--nada! and very little(almost none!) dust. Great pads with better 'grip' than the L's OEM pads. http://members.aol.com/carleyware/library/ceramic.htm
I might be interested in some of your guys stock 02/03 pads if you want to part with them. Looking for pads with slight use 2-3k miles or so. I should know for sure by tuesday of next week. You can send me an email at silverz06vette@yahoo.com I will get back to you next week.
My '02 pads squeak a little now and then, and they toss out plenty of dust, but the braking performance is outstanding. One of my buddy's swapped out the '03 Z06 pads for the stock C-5 pads. They were quieter and cleaner, but he replaced them with Z06 pads after about a month because of the reduced braking power he said he noticed. I've accepted the squeaking to get the performance. Are some of the other pads better than the stock C-5 pads, but quieter than the Z pads?
