what is the strangest complement you ever got?
well yesterday i was driving a girl from work back home and she gave me the a very strange complement she said " This car is very comfortable" :jester .
I do agree with her they are comfortable but the strange part is she drives a 2002 Acura TL 3.2 that is a very comfortable car compared to a Z. :auto:

The strangest remark I have heard to date with this car was at a 7-11 getting gas here in Melbourne Florida about 2 months ago:
A man in his sixties or so says "What kind of car is that?" I replied- "A Corvette".
The man asks "Corvette? Who makes that?" I replied "GM".
Again a confused look and he replies "Is that German or something?" I say "No, It's from Chevrolet".
He says "Oh, the truck maker, when did they start making this?"
I was dazed, and replied "about 50 years" and he says back "Wow, I never noticed them before, but it sure is nice, looks fast". I just nod and keep pumping my gas.
I figure he must have either cleaned his glasses for the first time in 51 years or something hit him on the head and he regained his sight!
True story.

I don't get compliments so much as I get a _lot_ of stares. At stop lights. At gas stations.
When people do ask me a question it's usually something like, "How much did you pay for that?"
I still haven't come up with a witty response to that question.
Any suggestions?

I am handicapped and was told a crippled person should not be driving a nice car like a Corvette. I belonged in something with 4drs and more conservative.

What they are saying is " What you have is a material possession that *I could also have* if I had/or decided to spend the number of dollars that you are going to say. Don't think you are so special"
They are trying to take away from you your enthusiasm for high performance cars, your knowledge of them, your history with them, your ability to drive them and maintain them etc. and put a dollar figure on that so they could "posses it if they so chose to".
This is particularly comical when people ask me that about my sportbike. It takes YEARS and YEARS to become a really proficient motorcyclist. For someone to think that they can just PURCHASE that, is just as laughable as someone buying an F16 and thinking they are a fighter pilot.
I never fall for it. If it's the Corvette I say "A LOT" and if it's the bike I say "Not that much". With out the number they can't calculate for how much they could *buy* being "just like you".

My friends all agree that my car is very comfortable for us, the seats are small, just right. Our joke the first day I showed off my new car was, "The Z06...strong enough for a man, but made for a woman." Maybe that's what your friend's compliment meant.
Strangest compliment: "DAMN, you drive like a man!" :rolleyes:

Dunno if this should be considered a compliment, but back when my Mom was alive she and my step dad had a number of 'vettes. One time someone pulled up to her at the light and asked "pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon". Well, she didn't but she did go out and buy some. As fate would have it, a couple of years later I was riding with her when someone pulled up at a light and said that and sure enough she pulls out the jar of Grey Poupon and goes to hand it to them. They didn't know what to do and we were both laughing our azzes off. She was a good woman like that...

Two young guys came up to me in a parking lot and said "A Z06! I'll pay you to drive it!" ................... "I REALLY mean it, I'll pay you to let me drive it!" :steering:

I went to a BMW driving school and I let the instructor take it for a few fast laps around Pocono Raceway. He said it was the best handling, fastest accelerating, and hardest braking street car he has ever driven. In fact he could only think of 1 race prepped car of which he drove that could compare. We went out in the instructors group afterwards and tore every prepped M3 a new one!
