I just picked up my '03 Z06 Friday, and it has the side moldings. I don't really like them, and my dealer said he can take them off. I know they are just taped on, but can they really come off clean? If they will not leave a perfect surface underneath, I'll just leave them
How do you take them off? And does it damage the moldings in the process?
I used fishing line. (Wear gloves.) The excess adhesive can be rolled off with your thumbs. (Wear gloves.) Final cleanup with mineral spirits.
You need to minimize the "sawing" motion to avoid damage to the BSM itself - the tendency is to pull outward on the line, which will leave a ragged edge on the BSM - it helps to have a second set of hands to pull "out" on the BSM while you work the line.
