[Z06] Shorty Antenna?

Shorty Antenna?
I was wondering if anyone has replaced their fixed antennas with a shorty version like the one P F Y C sells for 29 bucks? Is the installation as easy as unscrewing the old antenna and screwing in the new one? Also will loss of reception be a factor?

You can pay $25-$29 for a shorty or you can pay $0 and spend 15 minutes for the exact result. http://www.members.shaw.ca/tonyscott...enna%20mod.htm I only use my radio in the city (CD player for highway) and I have had no change in reception compared to the stock antenna. :cheers:

:cheers: It's a great no cost mod. I actually have had a few guys come up and ask me where I bought my "cool shorty antenna". :D

IDEA:
For an even shorter "shorty", you can pick up some black rubber vacuum line caps at NAPA (or wherever) and use one of the smaller caps over the threaded stud on the antenna base! :D
Works fine in the city and suburbia, and you can pop off the cap and put the "fishing pole" back on for road trips! :yesnod: :cheers:

Lol, I just did this to mine last night. :) I have a power antenna too, but just haven't ever gotten around to installing it...

I switched mine to a shorty antenna.. its a black one... I have found no probs with reception so far.... I like it alot better

Your "How To" Shorty Mod worked perfect and works very well.
The new appearance is much more appealing.
Highly recommend the Antenna Mod for anyone considering it.
