Default Just did stock shifter mod, what a difference!

Just finished doing the stock shifter mod and it is a huge difference. Feels perfect now, and only cost me $70 ($50 for a stock shifter and $20 for a shift ****). I got a stock shifter from someone on the forum so I could modify it at my leisure, and then bought a carbon fiber shift **** at Pep Boys. Altogether it took me a couple of hours to modify the shifter and then install it in the car. I must say that it feels absolutely incredible. Not too stiff, but very precise and firm shifts. I've never driven a C5 with an aftermarket shifter, but both the Firebirds I had had aftermarket unit (95 & 2000, both T56 trans) and this feels better than either one of those (B&M and Lou's Short Stick). Anyway, here's a picture:

If you've been thinking about an aftermarket shifter I would highly recommend you try this first.

BTW, if anyone is interested I have a complete stock shifter for sale now. :D

So, how much did you end up cutting off the threads? Couldn't you have done in while it was installed rather than changing out the entire shifter?
Looks good with that ****!

I didn't cut the threads shorter, I removed the entire outer (black) housing. I then mounted the new shift **** directly to the primary shaft that is underneath the black outer housing. Here's the link that someone did with full instructions: http://benelliwang.badassride.com/Shifter/index.html
I did the Version 2 mod.

Yeah, I really like the ****. I was kind of suprised to find something that nice at Pep Boys for $20, but it let me finish the install today instead of ordering a ****.

YEAH BABY!:D

I also got rid of my stock shifter and put my old Ripper in...HUGE DIFFERENCE!

Now you're ready for some 12 second passes :D

BTW, I plan on taking my car to the track for the first time this Tuesday..I've driven my Coupe to a 13.1/108 but have not yet taken the Z....What was your first experience like??

Is there anything I should prepare for or anticipate??

Thanks in advance
