Just went to the G Tech pro site - I could not find the new software announcement that you mention is coming at the end of May. Can you direct me please.
zap, software for GTECH pro competition won't be out till end of May/03.It was supposed to be out in Feb./03.If you purchased this product, and registered with gtech, they will mail you software and manual for free(when it comes out)!...best bet, call 1800 GTECHPRO. P.S.what do you think of this product?,is it worth the money? DR.NICK
I got mine as a gift from my family and have not had a chance to try it out. Everywhere I read the reports were good for what the gizmo does. Thanks for the reply !
Guys, I've used both the old model and the new Pro/Competition model with the blue screen.
Definitely get the new one as it is much more precise and easier to calibrate. It works great and is a very cool device. You can even graph your acceleration runs and see exactly where you're strong, where you're not and your interval times for things like 0-80, 0-90...

Re: GTECH pro performance meter (DR.NICK)
I have the GTech-Pro. The unit is consistent, but the results you get from it do not match what you will get at the track. The GTech is optimistic.
If you read GTech's site they say that the unit provides an exact MPH reading at the end of the 1/4 mile, while a track averages your speed the last few feet of the track. I don't buy that 100% because the results I get from the GTech are consistently at least a few MPH higher than the track readings. In addition my E.T. is always lower with the GTech.
If you really want to know how quick & fast you are go to a track.

How do you know which is more accurate, the one track or the GTech Pro? Wouldn't you want to try many tracks to compare to the GTech Pro?
If you found that the GTech Pro was consistently different from many tracks, then you've found the constant offset you need to calibrate the GTech Pro to real track times. You'd then have a very useful tool without needing to go to the track to test your car(s).

Re: GTECH pro performance meter (johnC5)
I run at E-Town and I can tell from my MPH readout that the track is more accurate. There is no way I am running the MPH that the GTech indicates and I do not believe the GTech's E.T. either.
If you really want to know how fast you are going I feel you have to run at the track. In addition, running WOT at 117 MPH down the street just isn't a smart thing to do.
Called G Tech today, the latest Competition Pro comes in an Orange box. This has been shipping since Christmas.
The latest firmware will be version 3 - it is shipping on the factory units and the zip file will be posted to the website as soon as they make a zip file of the exe.
I am sure no one on this or any other forum, who respects the Z06 and our hobby would time themselves doing a 1/4 mile run on the street. :chevy
