I have a very slight ticking sound that is audible but not really load. I know it isn't but it sounds sort of like a spark plug wire arching. Car has 1300 miles.
The dealer is telling me that it is the fuel injectors and that nothing can be done as nothing is "wrong". The guy they sent with me to listen was a good mechanic but old enough so his hearing isn't the best and he couldn't really hear it. It is just enough to drive you nuts! There is no issue with power and/or performance. The noise is most noticiable at a steady speed with the windows up.
its normal. Its the valves and valvetrain due to the camshaft profile, not the fuel injectors. Now that i have changed my cam, the sound is even more audible.
Thanks for the replys and the link to the other thread - both were helpful. I didn't have the lifter noise they spoke of, just a slight ticking that probably is injectors. I tend to compare this car to my 01 vert and that didn't have the noise (or the 405HP :D )
I quess I'll just sit back, roll down the windows and enjoy the sound of the rest of the motor.
No it is definetly from the engine and is a ticking. My engine building experience is on my 60-70's stuff so it sounded like a plug wire arching to me. The fuel injectors makes sence based on what the dealer mechanic explained. No loss of power and only at lower RPM's.
The GM injectors can be replaced with SVO 30# injectors which are nearly inaudible compared to the stock units and are a direct fit. http://www.autoshopracingengines.com/injector.htm has SVO #30, you might check it out.
