I almost always use 1st, get it to 20 MPH and then shift to 4th. Works well for in town and never going over 45 MPH in the speed zones. Personally. i love the skip shift, makes it very easy for daily driving. If you are talking about any other time, i run 1,3,4 for a little more juice. 1st really pulls hard...

I only start in second when I'm not launching the car hard, I start in second when I'm out on the street. Don't need to rev the car much over idle cuz LS6 has plenty of torque to pull the car. Just have to let go of the clutch more gently.
But when I'm out on the track, in 1st she goes! :D

Hi ivox -
I will sometimes start in 2nd - usually when someone in a much slower car is playing race-car-driver - this way I can skip the time it takes to shift and just pull away without even breathing hard...
With this much torque on tap, you can just use 2nd like 1st - no additional revs are necessary (at least with mine).

1st, WAY too much fun to miss!!
Of course there is the occasion when I start in 5th, followed shortly by an aeronautical term and then putting the car in reverse :bb :jester

I go 1-3-5 for "sedate" driving.
Only potential harm of starting in 2nd would be a little more clutch wear if you ride the clutch at all.
