Well, you save ten pounds with that carbon fiber hood, which is the equivalent of about 1.5 gallons of fuel.
My hunch is that Z-16 sales may be hurt since the Corvette was not a class winner at LeMans this year, which probably means that dealers will not be able to gouge. If a Corvette had won GTS, plenty would have been willing to pay the exorbitant price for Z-16 and the '03 C5-R paint job, but since they didn't win the "aura" is less.
I've read that Z-16 will be in the range of $3500 to $5000 MSRP, but Z-15 on the coupe's and converts. gives you the same paint job for a lot less without the carbon fiber hood.
Anyone have confirmation on the actual MSRP for Z-16 and Z-15.
Z16 should be $4335.00. Polished Z06 wheels, carbon fiber hood, interior enhancements, Dark LeMans blue with striping package, limited build numbers, LeMans emblems...less than 2000 built is my guess.
It also gives you something only about 1500 other people will have.
Which sounds good until you consider that if you buy a yellow Z06 you get a car of which only about 700 cars are built ... (35,000 cars/year X 20% Z06s X 10% Mill Yellow)
I'm sure the Z16 will be a great car, but it's being over-hyped and over-priced, IMHO.
Hey dont laugh guys, there where some people that bought that purple and yellow turd pace car or whatever they called it, and paid big $$$ :yesnod:
