Just installed the full 14 piece Cleartastic kit. Took me about 2 hours b/c it was my first time and b/c I'm a perfectionist. Followed the instruction's exactly and had no problems. Everthing fit nice. I used the California squeegee and my credit card to smooth out the pieces. You can't even tell that the pieces are on the car unless you'r looking for them and your about 2 feet away. I just got the 3 piece mirror set also. I'll probably put that on tommorrow. Right now the car is under the cover and I'll be taking it to work tommorrow so I'll let you know how it hold's up. BTW, I get to go about 130 mph on this one stretch of road so I'll check to see if everything is there when I get home. I think there tested up to 160mph so I should have no problem. :auto:
Do they have a piece for the leading edge of the convertible top lid - every time I raise or lower my convertible top, it rubs the center leading edge of the lid when it is raised.
Took me about two hours to apply mine too. I found out that it worked well to add a piece to one corner and let it dry awhile before placing the overlapping piece (work on another corner instead). I am very pleased with them. They stay on great when you wash the car and they stay on in the rain. Someone asked about a piece for the convertible, my neighbor has a C4 vert and he has a piece that prevents the top from rubbing on the paint so you should look into it. Glad to hear yours went on so well. The mirroror pieces are a little bit tougher however. :seeya
If you have any question's about convert pieces or general questions about the product, call Ed at Cleartastic 1 800 778 9898. That's what I did and he was very helpful. Also, check out their website. Their company is on the homepage of corvette forum to the left. Just scroll down.
Regarding installation tips, follow the instruction's exactly . I got a 8 oz. spray bottle, filled it with water and mixed one drop of Dawn liquid soap in it. Don't shake it up b/c you don't want bubble's. Just swirl it in the bottle. Spray on your finger's to make sure it doesn,t feel soapy. Clean the areas on the car well and wax them with a good carnauba wax before applying. Spray the area's with the water, wipe it off to get off any dust, and spray again. Peel off the Cleartastic and spray it. Then apply. It position's into place easily. The big California Squeegee I got at Auto Zone worked great to get it started and then I used the credit card to really smooth it out and get the water out. I send PICS as soon as I can figure out how to download them to the forum.
You'll have that install time down to twenty minutes in no time. I soak mine in hot water before I install and use a mixture of 1/2 Z6 and 1/2 distilled water to spray the surface beforehand and was amazed at how much simpler it made it. Also, when they say the surface must be clean....it must be clean. I was frustrated with the time it took to put them on initially but when I read the above tip, it really made it a no brainer. Also, Ed at Cleartastic is one stand up vendor. He is committed to our satisfaction with the product. Good luck!
The 14 piece set covers behind the front wheel wells, the lower sill in front of the rear wheel wells,( thats where most of my scratches were ) behind the rear wheel wells, and the inside of the front and rear wheel wells behind the tires. I'm glad I returned my Altec painted splashguards in place of Cleartastic. The Altec splashguards looked cheap and the paint didn't match well. My car is Pewter. Also, I didn't want to drill 12 holes in my Vette to install them. Go with the Cleartastic. BTW, I didn't get to reach 130mph on the way home today b/c of traffic but I did get up to 110 mph and when I got home all the pieces were still there. I also ordered the 2 piece set which cover's in front of the rear wheel wells and I installed them on the front of the car on both sides of the license plate and they are still there. This will at least help with the scratches in the front bumper untill they make a full front bumper piece. :hurray: :seeya
Thanks for the tips on installation, I/m looking forward to getting them on. If they work out as good as I/m hoping they will, I will look forward to the clear bra product, that would be great.

Re: Cleartastic is on! (LS7)
LS7,
Thanx for the post. I was ignorant about this product. I surfed the site. There's nothing in there about how to store them once removed. Is there a protective backing that can be saved and re-used? My fear is that once off they will collect dust, etc and not re-seal upon reapplication. Any thoughts on this?
To store them, all you have to do is stick them back onto the white paper they are individually shipped on. Save the cardboard piece that they are mailed in B/C it will keep them nice and flat when storing. :hurray: :seeya
