The New owners video recomends 30 psi, the pressure in the tires when i picked it up from the dealer was 33 psi on my wifes C-5 coupe and 36psi on my Z06. Those psi's are in each tire front and rear on both car's respectively. Any insight anyone? TIA!

Every new car I have ever gotten from Chevy has higher pressure in the tires than the owner's manual recommends. I have no clue why they do this  My Z06 was about 32 psi from the dealer and I lowered it down to 30 psi (cold tire).
Thank you, those psi'i are cold also. When I lowered my wife coupe to 30psi w/runflats the car handles and steers very heavy feel, at 33psi (cold, perssure taken first thing in the morning, before the car is driven. if you can say "cold " in S. FL. I have noticed a 3psi build up, once the car is driven( Hiway) to 36 psi. the tire spec's say not to exceed 42psi so, the 36psi would still be in the spec range? I have called 5 tire stores , they all give me a different tire pressure opinion including " the lower the psi the faster the tires wear out, its a conspiricy to sell more tires" ??????? I know under inflated tires wear faster, have higher heat build up, and are prone to blow out. those are the extremes of course. Anyone??? :chevy :auto: :auto: :flag
Pressure gauges vary in accuracy, as do their operators. On the Z, I'm not sure that anything over the recommended 30psi cold will be beneficial except for competition use. Typically, over-inflated tires will wear the centers out first, but I don't know about the S/C construction.
rwd, Thank you, I have used 4 different tire gauges, two digital, two mechanical (slide bar type). All within .5lbs of each other. I know from experience over inflated tires wear in the middle. I don't want get too **** about this subject, but , with all the recent deaths due to blow out accidents, and me being a neophyte with these types of tires in 100' heat and high speeds can test the outer limits of tire integity. Thanks for all the input. anyone else? I wish we could talk to the C-5 design team. Thanks again.

no, on the z06 30psi cold is ideal for competition use.
on the c5, since it has slightly less wide tires, and slightly more weight, youll likely have slightly higher ideal pressures, like 32psi cold
but the true answer is it doesnt really matter.
anything between 29-35psi cold is going to be fine for daily driving. dont fret over it.

jackmott,
Thank you! I didn't want to sound **** over tire pressure, I just wanted to put it to bed Early in my ownership with these state of the art tires. The 29 t0 35 cold psi makes sense.
Thank you all!
