I looked for a long time for a C5 conv't & ended up buying a car I'd not considered - a 2002 Z06. (I was only thinking conv't)
A dealer had it in my town & he called me & asked me to come in & take it for a drive. It drove around town much easier due to the lower rear & trans gearing & on the road - wow!
I am 64 yrs old, have owned 8 Vettes & the Z06 is the most fun of any of them......Don( It had 15k miles & I paid 37.5)
Actually, the rear ends have the same "gearing", 3:42, if the vert or coupe has manual tranny. If the vert has auto, most likely has 2:73 gears. :-) Z06 tranny much better. :-)
Yes, the standard auto rear ratio is 2.73 . A 3.15 Performance axle is offered for automatics. The Z06 has3.42s. My wife has the 03 coupe w/auto and 2.73s. 22.5 mpg all around driving. I put my 03 Z06 air box w/k&N filter on her coupe and replaced mine, The Z06, with a Granatelli twin cone duct and MAF. On Fathers day I drove From Boca to the Breakers in Palm Beach for Brunch and got 32.3 MPH w/air off, @ 68mph, cruise control on, in 6th gear. I still can't believe these Corvettes, just astounding power and efficiency.Every time I drive it, it shows me something different in its capabilities.
What is left to say!!! :chevy :flag
