Exhaust system squeaks!

That appears to be what is squeaking on my system (stock Titanium). The springs have a plastic black coating on them and it has worn through. I heard it in a parking garage today and was appalled to know that in addition to the air conditioner racket, the tranny noise and the other clunks I have that are not identified yet, I am making a squeaking noise when driving by folks as well.
I'm going to try axle grease - anyone found a better long term solution that doesn't require r&r of the springs?
