I had H.I.D. on mine and I may not do it again. You'll lose the high beam.
If you just want the "white look", go for a set of well known brand white or cool blue bulbs.
If you want a really bright white light, go with the APC 80 watt bulbs!! Very bright light and it looks really nice too!! They just might save you 700 bucks
I put my Phillip HID conversion kit ( Low beam only) in my 03 Z06 last yr. It works fine. They're 6000k white lights. I bought it for about $425, and picked it up in the store here in LA, CA.
Installed it myself and took me about 1.5 hrs. The hardest part was to find a suitable place to put the ballast unit on.
The light output is just like the OEM Xenon lights that you see in the new cars. I love it.
If you want high beam, you can just replace light bulbs. Who uses the high beams anyway. :skep:
I totally agree with you about HID. THe vette is my first non HID car in about 5 years. The loss of high beams does not bother me, as I have yet to have a bi-xenon system. But I think with xenons one needs not to have high beams. Any images or details on the install. Thanks
I just got an Audi A8L which has a bi-xenon system. I have had other cars with a xenon system, but not the highs. The Audi provides a tunnel of light that is simply amazing.
Hopefully the C6 will do as well. It is one of the few knocks I have about my Z06, which had a pathetic stock lighting system. Went with the Eurolamps and some replacement bulbs. Helped a bunch.
And to clear up the highbeam issues..... No, you do not loose the highbeam with the stock US housing. The 9006 HID kit only replace the lowbeam leaving the highbeam untouched.
If you have the Euro housing then you have two options. If you don't want the highbeam, then just get the single beam H4 kit. If you still want the high beam, then get the dual-beam H4 kit. This kit cost approximately $120 more.
The dual beam kit comes with bulbs that have built-in patented solenoid. When you switch back and forth between hi and low, the solenoid moves the entire bulb housing back and forth into the correct optical axis.
I carry all 3 of these kits made from Catz. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help. Below are some prices of those kit.
