Default 2003 changes from 2002...?

I did a search and cannot find what was changed/improved in the 2003 model over the 2002.

I'm curious. I just bought an 03.

:iagree:

From what I have heard, they were making the 2002 Z06 on Friday morning July 19th, and were making the 2003 that afternoon. No changes on the line except for the badging. But, I have heard that the 50th Annivesary badge does give a 10 to 15 RWHP gain so I may have to get a set for my 2002 and be a "poser" for the gain!
Congrats on the 2003!

from nov. 22 they started making new vettes with a slightly different fuel sending unit to fix all the problems that 97-02 had with the gas gauge and the sending units....other than that nothing is different other than 50th badges.

And that ugly crash protection bulge of rubber above the upper seat belt anchor point.

I believe all 03's produced after a certain date (I forgot when) have the C6 fuel system...mine has it. It's not just the sending unit but a whole bunch of other stuff as well. I also noticed that the compartment near the passengers feet (computer access) uses velcro instead of latches...not sure when this change occured (my 01 had latches). The leather shift boot seems way cheesier on my 03 as compared to my 01. The seatbelt decals on the visors are now ironed-on and cannot be peeled off. There were actually a lot of very subtle changes that most people don't notice but nothing worth choosing one year over the next unless owning a 50th model is important.

Almost forgot...my 01 had the "marbles in the can" noise in neutral with the clutch out...my 03 is silent...don't know why. My 01 didn't have the exhaust jingle but my 03 does.....go figure.

I've noticed that too.
At least b/f 03 - they tried to make it look like leather - on my 03 - it looks like the cheesiest vinyl one can get. The quality of sewing remained the same - mine is half undone already.

The A pillar padding is slightly different on the '03s, also, due to a change in federal crash safety regs.

New fuel system sucks. Only access to upgrade pump or service the system requires removal of the tanks. Check it out as I am NOT totally informed on all the changes for 2003. At least the earlier fuel system has access to pump etc. without tank removal. 2003 owners jump in here and give us the lowdown. In time all mechanical things can be dealt with. Good luck 2003 and subsequent owners.
