On track few days ago downshifted a little early, chirped the tires and the clutch peadl did not come all the way back up. Pitted looked around, took the top off the clutch resivoir, gto in the car and it was back up.
It felt fully engaged, but only came abck up about halhway, seems good ever since.
Any answers??

Not an unusual problem. I would guess that you had made a few fast laps at high rpm creating a lot of heat both in the clutch and the exhaust. Both affect the clutch hydraulics just like heavy braking affects the brake hydraulics.
If you pump the clutch pedal when it gets like this, the pedal will tend to return to "normal". As the clutch wears out, the pedal will probably stick to the floor requiring you to pull it up with your foot. It's tough to power thru a corner when that happens!
Yes a few hot ones, a black 02 Z06 and a yellow 02 Z06 were on track sam emorning so you can guess.....
So clutch wear, how do we monitor, it seems to engage quite a ways from the floor, unlike my C4?? Is there a cooling solution for this problem?
Thanks
Fairly common problem, Chevy has a TSB out on it, next time it sticks talk to your local dealer. I got a whole new clutch. The problem is in the design of the hydraulic system, further complicated by heat. Keep the fluid clean, and at the track some use a turkey baster to replace the resevoir fluid between runs to keep the temp as low as possible, a bag of ice does the same thing. Mine stuck OFTEN at road race and drag race events, has yet to stick with the new setup. The added problem is that with partial engagement you can hurt the syncro's when shifting hard.
