Default Skip Shift Plug Seal Kit '03 ZO6

Hey fellow ZO6 owners! I just purchased my Skip Shift Plug Seal Kit, (bypass the shift from 1rst to 4rth). The directions are a bit intimidating as I have never jacked up the Vette. Above and beyond the typical procedures mentioned in the Owners Manual does anyone have any suggestions?

Does anyone else have the Skip Shift installed?

Regards,
scubaboy

Many of use have the skip shift eliminator, they work fine. You need something between your jack head and the jack point like a hockey puck. But just to do the skip shift jack the car up from the middle of the rear sub-frame using a piece of wood between the sub-frame and jack. Then chock the front wheels VERY good and place two jack stands on either side of the jack for safety and then follow the instructions.

The skip shift install is easy once you get under the car.

I purchased a set of Rhino Ramps, and they make getting the car off the ground much faster, easier and safer. You can get these at WallyWorld or Autozone for less than $30. You only have to raise the rear of the car to install the CAGS eliminator kit.

You can roll one side of your car onto the curb from a driveway opening. That will give you just about enough room to do the job. It is much simpler then you think once you get under there.

1) Lift and properly support rear of vehicle (ramps, jackstands, etc).
2) Wiggle yourself under the rear of the car.
3) Look for blue and white electrical connector on driver's side of tranny (near the top-rear of tranny).
4) Unplug the wire from that connector (lift locking tab and pull with fingers -- it may be tight).
4a) (optional) Utter expletives while removing dirt that was loosened in step 4 and has now fallen into your upward-gazing eyes. Make mental note to wear eye protection next time.
5) Plug one part of CAGS bypass into now-empty socket on tranny.
6) Plug other part of CAGS bypass into now-loose wire unplugged from tranny in step 4.
7) Zip tie wire from step 6, so that it isn't hanging loose and getting into trouble.
8) Get out from under car, because you're done!

Total time under car: 1 minute (3 minutes counting step 4a)

Cheers,
Kent

Thanks for the link to your how to's. :D

While I know your response was directed to the CAGs I found the sections on speaker replacement of interest to me.

Thanks for the pics.
