clunking noise after start up
After I start the car & release the clutch I get a clunking noise in my 03 Z.Also,as I'm winding through the gears (also seems when engine is cold) I get a strange gurgle @ the exhaust as I'm shifting w/ the clutch depressed. Any body else have this or know if it's normal? Thanks!
The clunking noise might be your emergency brake. If I wash my car and park it for a few days with the E-brake on, somtimes the brake does not release completely and "clunks" as I drive forward.
The gurgling noise is normal. You can get an X-pipe to decrease it slightly but I don't think it will go away completely.
Certain driveline noises are inherent in the design, and, to some extent, all manual transmissions.
If it does it every time you release the clutch (as opposed to only after starting the engine), it's probably normal, and most manuals do it. You can minimize and/or eliminate it by the way you release the clutch and the way you open the throttle.
The other noise may be a variant of the exhaust jingle, if it's occuring while the engine is decelerating between shifts.
Difficult to diagnose noises over the internet, though.
FWIW, WWK888, mine does the same thing, and I don't set the emergency brake. It may be the pads; I keep forgetting to check.
