Dana ceramic pads (fichtner $172 a set)
Hawk hp street brake pads
street front $110 rear $78
hi performance street + race front $135 rear $100
Durastop ceramic (don't have the price, from GM)
I got the Dana ceramic pads, but I have not put them on yet.
I've had the Hawk pads on my front wheels for the past several months and
the difference is dramatic. In normal driving, the difference in stopping is not very noticeable. However,at the top end of the 1/4 mile, the Hawk pads definitely require a little more pressure. No problem and you quickly adjust to them.Aside from the dust issue(which is major),the factory pads and the remainder of the braking system on the Z comprise the fastest stopping system I've ever experienced.
BTW,the best price I found was from JEGS.
Higher performance pads throw off tons of dust. The front wheels on my cobra were constantly dirty. That being said there are other pads to buy (listed above) or you can just get your rims powdercoated black like I'm going to do :yesnod:
Not sure I agree with that. From everything I've seen and read, including performance tests, the '01 Z's pads don't dust much and stop as quickly for street use. The '02 pads' advantage is seen during track use in terms of consistency and resistance to fading.
