The tech at the dealership says he can put GM Synchromesh in it instead of the Dexron III that came in it. So this would be replacing the ATF with a synthetic. Is the dealership wrong in this statement?????
The oem fluid is not synthetic. It is ATF and that is what needs to go back in.
The oem is ATF non synthetic, You can run synthetic ATF Dex III in the tranny: mobil 1, amsoil or redline.
Here is the reply I got back from tremec about the use of synchromesh tranny fluid in the Z06:
Our recommended oil for the Z06 transmission is Dexron III. We feel that if you wanted to use the GM Synchromesh, we do not see an issue but have not done any testing for this. I do not know the GM Synchromesh would impact the carbon rings in the syncjronizers.
I would just make sure its noted on the receipt, that way if it screws up the tranny then they can fix it.

So what exactly is the GM Synchromesh fluid? A synthetic gear oil??
