I called a tire dealer that is a member of my Vette club about tires for my 2002 Z06. He recommeded Toyo tires.
I tryed to find a web site where I could compare these tire w/others but, could not find any info.........Does any one have any recommedatons on these tires for the street......Don
I don't see any reason to go with those over the stock goodyears or the kumho MX.
Those are going to be your two best choices. Stock goodyears for ultimate performancec, Kumho MX for more or less the same performance and $300 cheaper per set.

I believe CPT Z06 is running Toyos on his Z06 over in Germany. He tracks his car often and the tires seem to perform well, and are also a good rain tire. I've heard favorable comments from others about the Toyos too. Can't direct you to any formal reviews, magazine reports, etc. I'm not sure if Discount Tire sells these; I know you can get them from treaddepot.
The Toyo Proxes T1-S is available in Z06 OEM sizes and is designed for more of a wet-dry balance, which is obvious from inspection of the tread pattern. The OEM Goodyears are biased toward dry performance and will outperform the Toyos in dry conditions.
If you have to drive a lot in HEAVY rain that builds up a thick film of water on the pavement, the Toyos are a good choice.
I live in FL & we have some very heavy afternoon rains.....Goodyrs are not the best tire in this situation. There are NOT many tires available in the Z06 size. It looks like Michelin or Toyo's unless someone knows of another brand......Don
But, having said that. When I recently replaced my tires I went with the Goodyears again. They may be sloppy when it rains - ya gotta be careful. But when it's dry they can't be beat - IMO
I bought new SCs three weeks ago at a great price from Discount and will also get the $60 Goodyear rebate as well. After 2-1/2 yrs of driving the Z in Houston, I really don't believe I need a tire biased more toward wet conditions.
A big 10-4. Toyos start with 10/32 vs 8/32 on the SC's. Although they look agressive they are quite. The only issue I have had with them is when the ambient temp gets below 35 F. I believe they are rated at above 300 in the UBOC They harden up and loose some traction.
Since this is a three or four day event where I live, its a minor inconvenience. I will always prefer the heavy rain capabilities of these tires.
Deep puddles have been overcome!! No more NASCAR spins for me. I never think about it anymore
For those who are interested, close to 14K on set of 4 and I am running 6/32 all around.
My 01 new to me came with Toyo's have had it on track and seem good, (did not abuse too much because they are for every day use) seem noisy on the street but have little experience with others except on C4.
Next track trip will have 18" hoosiers all around can't wait.

Yes I had them as my winter tire. They are AWESOME in the rain!!! On the street no real difference between them and the F1s except they last much longer. On the race track they are not too bad, but when you are used to the F1s very few can compare. At auto-x I took my first 1st-place with the toyos. If you want a long lasting tire that is great in the rain and don't need ultimate performance on the track they are great. I got about 15K miles out of them with a day at Hockenheimring, 40+ laps at Nurburgring (12 mile laps!), and numerous auto-x; and 100+mph in the rain was no problem.
I have the Toyo Proxes T1-S and I like them for all around use.
They have outstanding wet traction and good dry traction.
I've been caught out on a road trip in rain with the Supercars and it was not fun.. The Supercars are the best dry traction tire you can get IMHO but I drive my car on trips so thats not an good option for me.
I have the Toyo's on my 02 Z06. They seem to grip much better than my SC's and are much better in the rain. Also they are quieter...one thing...Toyo strongly reccomends that they not be run below 44 lbs
