Default Question for those who are lowered.. (Technical)...??

Hey All,
Just wondering about those of you who have lowered your Zs. If you use the "factory" method I have heard that you can drop about .5" in the front and .75" in the back. My question is will this pre-maturely wear the shocks?? In other cars I have owned I have always used springs to drop. This always put the shock travel outside of its normal range and pre-maturely wore the shocks. Ended up buying shocks valved for the drop.

So have you guys seen any adverse effects from lowering with factory hardware (premature shock wear, squeeks, rattles, harsh ride)?

Are there any aftermarket shocks (bilstein?) that are valved for about a 1" drop??

TIA,
-Nick

The Bilstein Sport is 3/4" shorter than the stock shocks, which in turn gives it more travel on a lowered car.. :chevy

I've not heard of premature shock wear due to lowering. I've lowered all of my C5's and never had any trouble. I would get the wheels aligned though.

Thanks guys

Anyone have any experience with the Bilsteins? I loved them on my T/A, better ride quality than stock!

Try the stockers 1st. I lowered my z06 and it rides even better with the stock shocks. When they wear out, I'll put in adjustable Penske's.

Thanks guys

I am going to start with the stockers, hopefully it will not hurt the shocks.

Anyone have a conversion from mm-> in handy? The video says 15mm drop all around.
