Has anybody used the Predator on their 02-03 ZO6, with 91 octane (California fuel), and have an opion on it's benefits. My main objective is to turn the cooling fans on sooner. I just want to know if the power program it comes with offers any gains or losses to performance.
I have one for my '02. After I installed the 160 thermo,dual snorkel and MAFS I drove around for a while. Then I used my predator. I feel it made those mods come alive. ( I could feel the differance). I also lowered my fans kick on and off temps. Hope this helps.
Got mine from RWTD on the forum. The predator works great and does what you want with the fans, it also improves the running of the car. You can not beat the service that RWTD delivers.
Thanks for your feedback, I was starting to think knowone out their liked the Predator. What octane fuel are you running and are experiencing any pinging. That is my main concern since 91 is the standard pump fuel here in California.
I am not sure how much of a change in the air/fuel mixture and timing the standard performance program makes. The only performance modification I have is the RM twin flow intake.
I use 93 octane fuel in mine. If your get a predator from RTWD he can set you up with a tune that will handle the problem on the gas. He does all the writing for mod tunes and other needed variations.
I have a few questions about this predator. For $400 you get a toy that allows you to lower the fan kick in point. How is that worth it. My friend dynoed his and when his motor was tuned with a propriatary version of the LS1 Edit, he had the full RPM spectrum, Oxygen sensors and all. The time on the dyno cost $4-500. So how and what does a handheld unit deliver beisdes the fan alteration.

It is obvious you do not like the Predator, even though you know nothing about it and less about the LS1 edit. Save you flame attacks for a time when you have some knowledge, instead of highjacking a thread to flame a product.

Of course you are right and I am wrong... and thanks for pointing out. I do not give a damn about a vendor A or B. And I have no axe to grind with anyone. Just give this a rest. All I wanted to know is how a simple handheld device can accomplish what one has to do an dyno with O2 measurements and lap tops. There seems to be a vast difference in complexity in my mind. There way to many empty promises in the after market and I wanted to learn from someone who has first hand experience.That is all...You read what you wish.

Do a search, there has been much written about the pro's and con's of Predator vs LS1 Edit, as I take you at your word you are interested in learning (and from your post there is room here for learning).
what the hell do you mean hijack the thread...I inquired about something that I was looking into buying and was indeed skeptical about. Seemed like a logical place to ask the question. I have no real point of reference and as such asked the question basing my experience on a friends F body LS 1 experience....its that simple. Not everyone who logs is hostile or has cheesy motives. I am not a troll, I gained a great deal of knowledge reading stuff on the board, although with a lot of skepticism....... I am a delighted owner of a 2003 MY Z06.
In my Porsche days....I used to see incredible claims made from piggy back chips, intakes and exhausts. But most of it has been debunked and hence my skepticism about claims for products. That simple

What are you, 12 years old? The search feature is a valuable way to learn, but clearly you have demonstrated that knowledge is not what you seek. If I am wrong here you should check your approach!

No problem, I do not claim to be without sin, I have gotten way off base myself here when I feel attacked unfairly or when people seem to have hidden agenda's (witness my behavior in the intake debate). If we "talk" to each other on this forum like we would in person there would be far fewer examples of unsociable behavior IMO. Doesn't mean we will always agree, it would be boring if we did :)
The search feature, particularly when you look up specific topics, has an amazing amount of useful information. I think it would serve someone well to thoroughly research all the costs involved in a Diablo vs LS1 Edit, and taking into consideration matters such as capability and availability of local dyno tuners etc. make an informed decision. For me - it was LS1 Edit hands down, but I respect that for others the Diablo will get the nod, that doesn't make me right and them wrong.

Why are you so hostile? This forum is replete with ludicrous posts about financing costs and which wax is better. Come on. The reason I have not posted more is because I have nothing to say or ask of most people. When something is of interest I will chime in and ask, not to provoke but to learn from someones experience. I have been toying with the ideo of buying the predator myself, but being skeptical was currious about it from someone who had done the maneuver I was planning to do myself, which was to change the thermostat and the fan kick in point. In my view, I felt that the $400 for the unit to accomplish the above two would not be worth it if I could go to the dyno and truly tune the car. So I asked how much tuning does the predator really do and how. I was ripped a proverbial new one on this one. I was excoriated for attacking and hijacking.....what gives.

I am very well aware of board and life etitquette as I am probably older than you are. And I certainly do not feel that I was in violation of flaming anyone. A simple reply "check out the search....there is a lot of good stuff there about your question" would have sufficed. Given the plethora of inane dialogue that takes place on this board, the times when its punctuated by valuable comments is refreshing. THere have been some terrific scholarly insights into the suspension modifications etc. Lets stick to the real issue...the terrific car and avoid personal conflicts or attacks. It gives vette owners the stigma of immaturity. I will refrain from posting again as I am truly concerned by the example of excoriation above. Just not warranted. People are usually given the benefit of the doubt which I was not. Too bad...I have lots of competition and car related insights.
