Can't wait for my new car - Torch Red Z06 ! I love fast cars and this is my first Corvette. Please give me some ideas for the EZ modifications. I know I need to change out the intake - What is the best one out there K7N, Dark Wing?
But, I think you mean K&N and Black Wing???
Personally I went with the Vararam. It has some quality issues but, definatley an increase in hp. They all have pretty good hp gains so it is really personal preference on which one to get.
Let me say the following is my OPINION (before the flaming starts).
I reccomend that you live with the car for some time before making major mod purchaes. The Z06 is one fine car out of the box. The system is very well integrated. IMHO after market intake mods are not the way to go. If you want to go this way and want results, you will want to become informed on how to increase the system flow. Changing only the intake is not a real solution.
However as the first blush of a Z06 ownership wears off, you may wonder why a 405HP power plant sounds so tame... Cat back exhaust systems such as the Borla Stingers can change the car from mild to wild.
Also there are plenty of little personal items to busy your self with. Such as the solving the dusting of the wheels (in just a round the block spin) because of GM's choice of brake pad compound. If you are not racing, I recommend that you change the pad all around to ceramics. See if you want a interior partition (you can make one for under $50 or spend much more on a ready made one), the ideal is to cut down the noise that comes from the rear trunk area (just about anything helps). Then there is that 3 to 4 foot GM antenna mast (how about a short spiffy one that works nearly as well). On and on.. how about color coordinated door pull surrounds?
Then the are tires and wheels. The stock tires on the Z06 are down right scary on the freeways around here in the rain. It is common to find ponding, sections of freeway that have standing water, and these tires don't clear the water well at all. It is a goosey drive in the rain and if you are commuting you may want to look for a tread pattern that is better suited for all around conditions. And chrome Z06 wheel$ are so much better looking then the stock wheels.
I offer this after having my '03 Z06 for 5 months and 10K miles. I love the car, but also love my Y2K C5 roadster. The Z06 is a sprint car compared to the C5 roadster (which is a cruiser).
Thanks for the feedback. It does make sense to get to know the car before making any changes. My daily driver is a Honda S2000 and of all the mods I have made, the AEM cold air intake was unmatched for the money.
When driving in the rain just drive according to the conditions and you will never have a problem.I live in Miami where it rains very hard all summer and I have never had a priblem....Oh I should have my 04 Z06 in about 2 months.
:iagree: on the waiting advice it is the most logical and grown up thing to do. Now that said, try to do it!!! You will say "I will wait until I know the car". In the mean time all these little Ideas are going to be creeeping into your head saying "how about me". Good luck on the restraint, mine lasted three days.
Hello :seeya , Congratulations  , and welcome to the Forum!!
Before you go nuts with Mods (which you have plenty of time to research), invest in a good performance driving school with your car to see what it (......... and you) are all about.
There's lots of stuff out there that will increase the performance of your new baby:crazy: , but if this is your 1st Vette you should probably spend some time getting to know eachother first!!:yesnod:
You'll be amazed with what she can do right out of the box!!
