Shifter Noise Under Acceleration
I own a 2003 Z06 with app. 2000 miles. I have recently noticed a fluttering and or rattling noise coming from the shifter area under acceleration. This noise seems to be getting louder as the miles rack up although it is not present when simply cruising. I am assuming this is normal? Any comments and or improvement recommendations would be appreciated. :chevy

Do you have an aftermarket shifter or ****? I have a hurst and it rattles like that. The stock shifter, however, was silent.

intofx is right, if youÕre stock it shouldnÕt be making any noise. I have a friend with a new MY Z and itÕs now in the shop for trans repair. After market shifters are legendary for noise under acceleration and I worked hard to get the noise out of mine.

Two possible sources. The very top of the shift boot has a tendency to rub against the shifter under vibration during acceleration, and can make an audible noise .. it's kind of a plastic-on-plastic squeak. Also, the plastic cover on the top of the shifter (with the 6-spd pattern on it) can vibrate under acceleration.
