Well first of all they are not a direct fit. Second they will not give me any horse power under 5000RPM and as for the sound they are just a glorified glass pack and I can get the same thing by adding a glass pack to my stock exhaust. Oh..and I would loose gas milage.
This is what I was told when I called the local exhaust shop to get a rate on installing my stingers. He told me how he has 18 years in the biz and and knows all about Borla. I told him I was doing this to compliment the new intake and would have an LS6 edit done to re-map the system. He told me that wouldnt help and the only way is to get a new computer. I then asked him how many vettes he has done the borla on and he said "none, but the borla doesnt bolt right up to a mustang." :troll
I think I will just get some jack pucks and do the install myself like I planned on anyway.
He sounds like a "real nice one" as they say in the south.
You need to get the rear crossmember 30" off the ground to get your stock catbacks out without cutting. I did it once but will never do it again. Very scary without a lift. :yesnod:
BTW see my sig for before and after stinger dyno results.
man everyone will tell you something different, I just dont care to listen to an exhaust guy, I pay attention to dyno's and what people tell me on here. people that have them can tell you more than he can, he just wanted to sell you something. :smash:
They fit great and sound better. It only takes 30 minutes to do the job yourself. I am a good ol boy shade tree mechanic, so I just put a piece of 4x4 on top of my jack and jacked her on up. :yesnod:
GM BLack is a pro mechanic and so he would never do something like this!
Buddy of mine got stingers and the guy is kinda right. They don't fit 'perfectly', and they are just glasspacks/bullet mufflers that cost a whole lotta money.
Personally, I'm gonna put some bullets followed by electric cutouts on my setup, should be nice. Adjustability and half (quarter?) the cost.
When you ask a "professional" to install a part for you I dont think it is any of his buisness ripping on the product that you spent your money on. He should should say he can do it or he cant and about how much. Maybe some advice or past story is ok but you should of herd this guy, he wouldnt stop talking down the Borla exhaust. It just bothered me.
Oh, I agree. It's really a huge turn off. You're PAYING someone to do the work that YOU want, and they are just gonna harp on your decision? Maybe they feel like they are helping, I don't know. I always preferred they would just shut up and do it. But maybe them opening their mouths is a good red flag so you can back away slowly and then run for the car.
i called the local speed wholesaler today.....picked up the stingers and installed them in 45 minutes(1 smoke/beer break) and the sound is 100% better than stock....i cant tell a difference yet in the power.....super easy install(i cut the old exhaust off, local guy wants it for 150.00 because of the chrome tips)it went on very easy and lined right up the first time......mind you it only took 45 minutes and cost was 523.00 locally :steering: :steering: i would do it again in a heartbeat
