Brought my 03 into the dealer with the instructions I printed off this forum to have the twilight light feature turned on - they say I don't have the sensor on my car so I brought him outside and pointed to it and asked what he thought. Their answer was that I have the "place" for the sensor but no sensor.
Has anyone else run into this? I am on my way to Carlisle in the morning and plan to ask the GM folks but thought I would check here.
You will have to install the sensor for it to work.......... as the Z06 does not come with it. The only sensor in the defroster vent of the Z06 is the sunload sensor for the A/C.
Adding Daytime light sensor is simple. There is a post by Z06Quin giving details on how to turn on auto headlights feature using a Tech 2. http://www.stopforce.com/RPO.html
Buy the sensor PN 12450121 $12
Pull the panel above the driver’s toes to get access to the wiring. You will see a small black two wire connector hanging down. The two wires are green with black tracer and brown with black tracer. Carefully pry up the grille in the middle of the dash, using a small flat blade screwdriver. Fish a wire down to the connector and pull the connector up to the hole. The sensor fits into the hold in the grille and is secured by twisting it 90 degrees.
The Twilight Sentinel is a good security/peace of mind thing for the wifey. You can program this to turn off the lights after a few minutes. Keeps the path lit where my "goddess" walks.
Oh...... she's not worried about human threats........ just the little frogs and crickets that jump out at her in the dark.
Thanks! I asked the folks at the GM tent in Carlisle and no one seemed to no but they did offer to e-mail me the answer.
As to the question why - I don't live in the most populated area and frequently find I am glad to have the delayed lights to make it to where I am going. I am not sure why they didn't include it, the sensor can't weigh more then an ounce and it was on the previous Z's. If you don't want it simply deactivate and you never know it's there.
