2001 vs 2002 Cost?
How much more desirable is the 02 Z vs. the 01?
For example, if I'm considering two identical cars with similar mileage and wear but differ in one year, what would be a fair dollar difference?
405HP vs. 385
Better cats
Better exhaust
Lets say there's an '01 with 10,000 miles offered at $35,000. What would the same '02 be offered at?

I'm not sure about the current market, but back in Feb when I got my 01, I paid $34,000 with 13K miles. This was a really good deal at the time, and if I remember correctly most of the 02s I saw then were going for low $40s.
As to the actuall differences, the only one that is really a big deal is the HUD. The exhaust is EXACTLY the same other than the pup cats, and that difference can be solved in about an hour with a big screwdriver and a shop vac. :D The intake difference can be solved by buying an aftermarket, doing the zip tie, or buying an 02+ lid. The only other real differences are the rear shocks, which even an 02-03 now is better off upgrading all 4 shocks to the 04 specs, and the oil consumption issue which can be fixed under warranty.
To me, it just wasn't worth the price difference for the HUD. Would I have liked an 02? Yes, but I couldn't see paying $10K more for it. Now, if you can find an 02 for within $4-5K of what the 01s are going for, then it might be worth the difference just for the longer warranty that will be left on the car.
