Has anyone else had problems with the windows. On several occasions in the past 2 months, the passenger window would not go down. You can hear the solenoid click, but the window does not move. Yesterday (24,000 miles on a 2001) it stopped working completely. Fortunately I have about 6 weeks left under warranty.
I'm going to have them check out reverse gear also. I usually is very difficult to get into reverse. I have to put the clutch in several times and shift back and forth several times. Sometimes in only goes in part way. This has me seriously thinking about an extended warranty! :(
Re: Passenger power window will not work (Nestor D. White)
I've had both problems on my 99. The window is an easy fix - I think it is the control module that goes south pretty often.
As for difficulty in going to reverse - two of my "friendly" GM dealers said that there was nothing wrong with it and it is a feature of these mexican warner-borgs trannis that GM sprinkled us with.
It was becoming a nightmare for me - until I just went to an indy-tranny shop and they did a flush of clutch hydraulics - it all worked great after that.
Check your clutch fluid reservoir - GM put the cheapest possible rubber hoses which start to deteriorate due to heat of engine compartment. All that crap fill the system and causes the above problem.
Re: Passenger power window will not work (Nestor D. White)
My passenger window got stuck too a number of weeks back. I found several posts on the forums indicating that was a common problem. Appears to more of a problem on windows that are not used very frequently. Solenoid just gets stuck, and mine started working again after a few sharp raps on the door panel over the solenoid location. Hasn't been a problem since. (I would rather get it working this way than to have my local dealer removing the door panel. Would probably never be right again...) Some suggested that operating the window once every week or two would help keep it from getting stuck again. Sound like another reason I need to buy a window valet...
Because your warranty is about out, I would get GM to replace the system. Mine stops working about once every 3 months, but if it continues, I'm going to have it replaced.
You do know that to go into reverse you have to be almost stopped due to the safety solenoid....... right??

You are absolutlly right - once they took the door panel off on mine they never could get it back right. The original 2 inch wide gaps became 4 inch gaps throught which I could almost see the road.
Re: Passenger power window will not work (Nestor D. White)
I had the same exact problem, down to the clicking noise. This lasted a few days and then one day it just decided to work again. This appears to be a very common problem with the C5/Z06. The common solution that I have seen is to just shut the door a few times while holding the window button down.
