Where is the best place to purchase the Delrin Hardbar for less than the $60 everyone seems to want? I really want this shift **** but can't seem to justify spending $60 for it.
I love it and think it's worth the $60. Over time the material gets poished from use and feels very nice. Doesn't get hot, and is the right size.
However, I did bore out the bottom thread section to shrten the overall shifter height. Between that and the Ripper, you get a very short finished installation, and very short shifter action.
What did you use to bore out your Hardbar with? Was it a tough job? I too was interested in the Hardbar, but I've heard that they sit up higher than the stock shift ****, so that kind of turned me off to it. If I could bore it out, so it sits lower, that would be ideal.
I just happened to have a 11/16" drill bit, so chucked it in the drill press and it was done. Took all of a minute.
I know of several others who have used a Dremel tool with a sinding drum bit, simply sanded out the threads. Delrin is very easy to work with, so this wouldn't take long to do either. The entire interior of the handle is threaded, so being precise is not a major issue.
