Love my 2003 Z, however
. . . does anyone else get a buzzing resonance in the dash (from near the stereo) on semi-rough highway pavement? It may sound petty but it gets to you on the long trips.
I'm hoping it's rather common. Any good fixes? (Other than loud music or stingers)
 yes, I was getting that on a recent road trip through Wyoming and Utah (their roads are awful). It was driving me nuts. I pushed and poked on just about everything and couldn't make it stop. My guess it's behind the ashtry. Around home, the roads are smooth so it's not an issue now.
Most likely you'll need to remove the console or the bezel around the radio and HVAC and check what's behind there.
Make sure that the passenger side seat belt clip is not vibrating against the door. It can make noise and also can be hard to tell where its coming from (or my ears are just bad.)
Hi!
I get a buzzing noise from the console too on rough roads and on the freeway sometimes. When I press onto the console with my hand the sound goes away. I am thinking of showing it to the dealer next time I go for a oil change.
Oh well, at least I know I’m not the only one who had this. Here’s what fixed the dash noise in my 03 Z.
First, I found the problem by spending way too much time on lousy freeway pavement to keep the noise coming. The noise definitely was coming from the CD/Tuner box resonating when on rough highway. I verified it by pressing in and lifting up on the stereo during the resonance. This killed it.
The fix was easy (and much better than relinquishing my new baby to the hands of the dealer): Hard rubber firmly (very firmly) wedged between the bottom of the stereo box and top of the climate control box. I cut a section of stiff one-inch diameter rubber coolant hose and used a screwdriver to very tightly fold it from the side and wedge it between the two boxes so tight that they were virtually connected by it. I accessed them by pulling back the right side of the dash bezel only about an inch and a half and then propping it so I could work. Mine now no longer makes a peep.
I am sure that the reason we’re getting this (and possibly other) vibrations is the stiffer springs and suspension that are standard on the 2002 and newer model Z-06’s. This increases the likelihood of any kind of buzz or rattle. (I didn’t have it on my 2001 Z.) There will probably more vibrations as a result of this but I’m glad this one’s gone.
Good luck to mfitz63, cruzmisl, vettez06crazy and the rest and I hope this works for you as well as it did for me.
Mine has been in to the  dealer  twice for the instrument cluster squeak. Let me know if tightening screws actually works.
Mine also developed the buzz by the stereo this weekend while I was out picking up my first speeding ticket in the Z. (81 in a 70, not too bad) I am going to have to try the wedge fix myself...
Amazing, I have the same buzz. I thought maybe I loosened something up when I put in the Hurst. I'll have to screw around with the radio. Thanks for the post.
