Traded the Z06...
Well, I finally decided to make a concession to family life and traded in the Z06. So, here's my idea of a family car:
It's 1997 LT4 Firehawk #27, one of only 29 produced. I was sorry to see the Z06 go, but this will definitely do for now, plus it'll be a lot more fun now to take this when we go for a family drive (instead of the wife's RSX Type S). :D Full details are on my website: http://www.LT1.net
YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY...now you can talk on the F-body discussions also....those Firehawks are bad butt cars (the Z06 is 100X better but...)....plus they have something that the Z06 doesn't...2 extra seats   ....I have a Camaro and I can answer a lot of questions for you about the histroy and the setup of the Camaros and Trans Ams and Firehawks...good luck on the purchase.
See ya on the road,
Matt:seeya
If you buy the Firehawk...you have to learn how to wave at Camaros and Trans Ams...:seeya

Re: Traded the Z06... (98CamaroRS)
Yeah, while the Z06 was a super car, it was almost too good. The handling limits were so high on it that I had to take it to the roadcourse to really use it. As to providing info on f-bodies, thanks, but I've owned and modded several of them already (see sig). I've kept up on them even when owning Vettes as the 95 Formula I had was my first real performance car. I actually always wanted one of the LT4 Firehawks as soon as I saw the info on them, but they were way to expensive when new ($40K +). I got this one for a lot less than that with only 6500 miles on it.

Re: Traded the Z06... (dvandentop)
Yes, I drive it. I don't believe in letting cars sit in the garage and never get driven. I figure I'll probably put around 7000 miles a year on it driving it on nice days, but it will stay in the garage for rain or snow.
I paid $26,900 for it, which is right in line with NADA on a 97 Firehawk. The real catch is that NADA doesn't even list the LT4 option, and nor did it take into account the super low miles. Considering that an 02 WS6 Formula would have cost that much new, I really think it's a great deal. Of course, with only 29 being made it's really one of those deals where it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
A rare car indeed! LT4 F-bodys are a good find. There are a couple great F-body forums you should take a look at: http://www.chirpthird.com - Go to the 'back porch' section. Sign up and introduce yourself. They're a great bunch of people. None of that immature crap... http://www.ls1tech.com - A good site for technical and appearance issues. A friend of mine is a moderator there. Great site!
i know where your coming from....i'm not gonna trade my 06, but i'm saving to get an ss camaro so the family can ride in the back...the very small back!
sorry the Z06 had to go, but a Hawk is a great "family" car......
I just bought my first vette, a MY '03 Z06 a few weeks ago, and am seriously considering keeping my '95 Formula, 49k miles with many SLP mods and 4.10's.....a lot of fun.....just hard to justify 2 weekend drivers!
Very nice car, if you don't me asking, where did you get it? I live in Stillwater and Ron Shirley is about a mile from my house. A friend told me it was there and I didn't believe him since there are only 29 made, and only like 4 or 5 with those options. I went and checked it out and there it was. I could have sworn it was a numer 27, and there about three months ago. It had about 6,000 miles on it like yours. Either or, congrats and have fun!!!
On another note, doesn't the lt4 have a compression of 10.8:1? I drive an integra and don't know too much vettes and such, but I'm always on this site, so I'm slowing but surely learning.
sorry you had to let the Z06 go.....nice looking car that you got....but you will have to add soem things or you will always be looking at the rear end of a Z06 pulling away from you.......sorry..had to put that in there too! :yesnod: :yesnod:

Re: Traded the Z06... (Interspy24)
Yes, I got it at Ron Shirley's. It is #27, and had approx 6500 miles on it when I bought it. It's been sitting on his showroom floor for six months. Yes, the compression ratio is 10.8:1 versus 10.4:1 for the standard LT1.
Very cool! Nice car and pretty dang exclusive. By the way, was your z06 red? I spotted one a few weeks ago in Stillwater. I'm guessing because of the little cruise or something. When it drove by it had a pretty nice sound to it, and I remember you posting something about modifying the exhaust for a little more sound. Was it you? Later.
