KCvetteowner, thanks for the reply. I'm familiar with the Panther repainting and machining treatment ala Jacob; that's NOT what I'm looking to do. Rather, I'm looking to have my rims polished. As I said, he had posted a pic (maybe on the other Z06 forum  ?) showing a slew of refinished rims at Panther, including a set of polished rims.
Wamara,
What part of central IL? I spent the first 23 years of my life in Decatur. Keep us posted on your wheels.
KC, I'm a few miles outside of Peoria, living in what used to be a soybean field  BTW, here is the post from Jacob to which I referred. It was on the other forum; hopefully it will post (and if so, the polished wheels are in the foreground): http://www.z06vette.com/forums/showt...hlight=Panther

I had seen that photo but totally dismissed the wheel in the front --thinking it was chromed...I should have read what Jacob wrote!! I had polished ZR-1 wheels on my '95 convertible, I hope I don't regret having these Z06 wheels polished  Ever strip clearcoat off of four wheels in an apartment bathtub?? :D
Sorry everyone,
I sent Slong the wrong pics of the wheels. I just sent him 2 more very good pics that are closer and show a lot more detail.
Hopefully he will post them soon.
Thanks, Slong, for the help.
Stay tuned.
Dave
i just got my rims back today, i got the black chrome treatment with the polished lip. They look awesome. My guy works a "wheels america" here in chicago and they did a superb job, and it was cheap. I think he told me that a full polish on my rims were 150 to 190 dollars a rim, not sure with or without a clearcoat. Because mine is a powder coated treatment it was 190 a rim. Dont waist time just do it, it makes the car look some much nicer and it gives you one more reason to smile when you look a you car. Good luck...
1QSZ06, I had a set of Z06 rims done at Wheels America in Chicago (Arlington Heights actually) earlier this year. Just to clarify your post for others (and unless WA has changed its operation), those wheels are machined on a lathe, they are not polished. Yea they're shiny, but it is not the same thing, and the difference may matter to some folks.
Jeclarke, have you looked in the classifieds of Autoweek? There is a place in Pa. and another in Md. that regularly advertise there. I've heard they polish and do good work, but I do not know that firsthand (or secondhand, for that matter  ). Both places should be pretty close to you as far as shipping is concerned.
