new member-no experience. 2002 z06 with 25,000 miles. goal is max hp and tq without hurting stock engine and be Calif smog legal. Plan is Vortech sc v2 sq, blackwing intake, high cap fuel pump, low temp thermo, dual guage pod, bassani 421 headers, custom x pipe, high flow cats, stock cat backs, special dyno tuning.
Any suggestions or concerns? Is 6.5 boost ok for stock? Want to do right first time. Thanks for help. :chevy
Sounds like a plan! Out of all those mods, the supercharger is the most risky at shortening the life of your engine. It'll last a long time if done right, but you gotta keep the boost low, no higher than what the Vortech settings are out of the box. You may want to start with the other mods first, get a feel for the car like that, then add the supercharger last.
Also, check each part for CA smog certification. I know the Vortex is approved, but some long tube headers are not legal in CA, and you're not allowed to replace the stock cats unless you have proof that the stock ones are dead and out of warranty (basically you can't, so scratch the high flow cats off your list if you want to keep the car smog legal).
thanks for input. Vortech kit for z06 includes special injectors and Bassani 421headers are 50 state legal for ls6 engines.( I will confirm) The Vortech kit is designed for stock z06 but am concerned about 6.5 boost. I will double check your comments about replacing stock cats. :chevy
