For a premium oil filter, I use the UPF44. I think all the premium filters are very good and would probably work well.

:iagree: UPF, K&N or Mobil 1 - I personally use the Mobil 1.

from what i have deduced the ac, wix, and napa gold seem to be some of the better oil filters. mobil is good although it is supposed to be somewhat more restrictive, k & n and amsoil i'm sure are good but don't have any information on them to make a decision.
as for oil, mobil 1 seems to be showing a lot of iron wear on some of the analysis i have been reading expecially in regards to the ls1 motor. amsoil uses the same base stock, but they put zddp and/or moly in their oil and use higher levels of detergents from what i have gathered. it seems the amsoil analysis always come out good unless something is wrong with the engine.
also regarding air filters, k & n does flow more air, yet i believe it is also letting more dirt into the motor from the analysis i have been reading with higher silicone numbers. a lot of guys (in my opinion)are switching back to the paper elements or different type filter. not sure how the other oiled gauze filters work. i would guess donaldson makes a good one since they have so much experience in other air filtration arenas, although i don't know how their's would differ.
of course these are just my opinions (disclaimer) a good web site to make your own decision is bobistheoilguy. good luck
