It was a warm windy day today out at the TX. Motorplex.
Mods: Vararam, X-pipe,Stingers, and factory tires...
This was my first time to run my 03 Z.
My first run of the day was pretty much my best.(weird)
60 FT 2.071
1/4 12.409
MPH 117.05
I truly ran better than I expected. I got 5 runs in and ran 12.4 - 4 out 5 times. My worst time was a 12.5 at 116. My 60 FT was really weak. Wonder what I would have ran with a 1.9 60FT. Hopefully I will find out next time.
There were two other Z's out there today. One guy had a bone stock Z that was running 13.0's at 108. Hmmm could not figure that one out. The other guy had an intake, long tube headers, drag radials, and cat back. From what I understand he never broke 12.4's. So comapared to the other Z06's out there today I was pretty happy.
Do you guys think this is a decent time with these mods?
Thanks!

Re: Just got back from the DRAGS! (Anthony Cleveland)
Nice job for your 1st time racing. They say every .1 in 60'=.15 in et. Your car has more in it! Get those 60' times down and make sure you're shifting @6300+ RPM's & quickly! I have your mods minus the exhaust work & I ran 11.67@119.3 w/ a 1.71 60' on street tires. I also had LS1 edit tuning done. If you haven't had it done-GET IT!! Will help a lot w/ the Vararam & exhaust work for sure. That also will lower your et's. IM me w/ any more questions.Good luck!
Re: Just got back from the DRAGS! (Anthony Cleveland)
first let me pipe in i think those are good times for street tires. second i did break 12.4's being the other Z06 on drag radials and probably would have run better had i not smoked my clutch on my last run stupid stock clutch. if i hadn't of smoked my clutch on the last run it would have been a 12.2 easily even with the strong headwind. still a great day for me and there is much left.
also i think you have pretty beat on horsepower too. so while your time is good for street tires based on your mods i would except a better run as i would for mine. in fact afterwards on the way we wondering why i didn't run faster? so the one suggested we head up to RPM who was having a dyno day.
guess it is time to give up on the predator and seriously consider an ls1 edit tune.
Rear tires at 26 and fronts at 44lbs...
I was launching at around 2500-2700 RPM and short shifting from 1st to 2nd at 6k. Then the rest of the way I was speed shifting at around 6300 RPM. But its all in that darn 60 FT. I was trying everything to get that down to a 1.9 or better. I launched at 3k a few times while slipping the cluch a little and still ended up with just under a 2.1 60 ft. I am really blown away how some of these guys are getting these crazy times on the stock Godyears.
Re: Just got back from the DRAGS! (Anthony Cleveland)
I was the one out there in that black 2003 Cobra convertable and I was really impressed with your times considering your mods. My best time of the day was a 13.077 @ 180.68 with a 2.068 60 foot time. My Cobra is 100% bone-stock and weighed in at 3705 with hardly any gas and without me in it...
What was up with that silver Z06 with the DR's? It looked like he had a more difficulty hooking up than you??? With all of his mods and DR's he should have been way into the 11's!!!
Hell...I think yours was the only CLEAN C5 out there yesterday. What's up with that?

You guys need to cut thefly some slack. He was out there learning how to launch on drag radials while trying to overcome a fear of breaking something! ;) That said, he was making great progress until he had some clutch issues and I talked him into packing it in for the day. Even with his tuning issues (as he posted), he would've been in the 11s with a couple more practice runs. :yesnod:
Thanks for all of the copliments! I try and keep that thing spotless even out at the drag races. Your car looked very well taken care of as well.
I really like those Cobras and especially the convertibles. I am sure with a few mods you will be running crazy times with that mighty blower. That was a fun day out at the track!

Very nice times A. If the conditions are right, AND you match them with your driveing it is amazzin what can happen. But if the track is not hooking it's not possible, so maybe the 2.07 was great for the hook that day?. Dr Ron's 11.67 on F1's is truly AMAZing to me, no matter what the conditions. Ric
