I'll be :lurk: around to see what people say. I got me a set a couple of weeks ago. Haven't really opened it up yet on these though. Does anybody know how they perform at the drag strip compared to the stock F1's?
I love my MX's so far. They're great in the rain and do awesome in the dry. I haven't taken them to the strip, but they seem to hook better than my balding F1's. I'll have them at VIR in a few weeks an we'll see how they go. They have a very progressive feel at the limit and are easy to drive fast.
lot's of threads on the Kumho's. I have the MX's on my Z06. Great tire after you get over the initial greasiness (takes about 20 miles depending upon your driving habits). I've had mine on for about 10,000 miles and they still have a ways to go. They are great in the rain...1000 times better than the hydroplaning F1SC. I've done DE's and they are a very sticky tire. I usually change out to DR's when going to the strip though. I got mine from a local retail store after they met Tireracks price +$15 for shipping charge. $800 for tires/mounting/stems/road hazard package. Really good bang for the buck.
Just got them mounted. Not much drive time on them yet. They are a lot louder on I-10 than F1's with 25K miles. I'm looking forward to how they handle in the rain.
I bought the Kumho Ecsta MX tires because I do one or two de events in the fall/winter and the Goodyear GSCS tires won't work at all in the wet (but they sure are good in the dry). They do work well in wet conditions, and are somewhat noisier than the stock F1 tires, but not much. I don't like them too well in comparison to the Goodyear GSCS tires for dry track use, but the tires aren't really comparable. The GSCS has a wear ratiing of only 20, while the Kumho is at 200 or thereabouts. It took me half a day to adjust braking and turn in points. However, they're definitely a better all around tire.
I'm sure they sounded a lot louder to me because my F1's had almost 26K on them and very little tread. Then I put on the new MX's and they just sounded a lot louder.
I'm trying to decide if the MX's are cool looking or just look like I put snow tires on my Z06! I'll have some time today to "break them in". :) :D :auto:
