Need some tips for OUTDOOR winter storage please!!!!
The car will be covered in a flat driveway for the winter. I may take her out on some dry days as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks again! :lurk:

my .02
find a storage facility. It's only a hundred bucks a month and it's well worth the money.
If you do decide to keep the car outside for the winter, don't be surprised to find the car cover "attached" to your car by mid season. rain, snow and cold weather has a nasty effect after an extended period of time.
What do you plan on doing with the battery?...You're going to have to remove it and keep a charge on it some how and you definitely want to add some fuel stabilizer to your tank...You can get this at any autozone for 5 bucks.
Inflate your tires to 36 pounds
I'd give the car a good detailing too...inside and out.

Hi Dr.Ron -
I assume that there is not possible way to get it into a storage facility?
I simply would NOT store the car outside.
Have you considered those "carport" buildings - you can have one built for $500-600 and it would at the very least keep the "dropping elements" off of your car. Look here - http://www.try-tech.com/instant-gara...e/hig_main.htm
Any elderly folks in the neigborhood? Take car of the drive and walkways when it snows, and you might be able to rent a garage for cheap.
All else failing, remove battery, stabil in the fuel tank, mothballs inside (mouse repellant), fresh oil change, high quality cover...
It would be nice if you have some crappy old wheels to put on it so you could get your chromies and F1's inside...

Even if I'm planning on driving the car when it's dry out, you guys still think I should remove the battery?? I'm thinking, judging by past NY winters, maybe the car won't move for 2-3 weeks at a time on average. I could start it up from time to time also.
Levrac68- I'd love to move to Fla.,TRUST ME!
I'm trying to get a garage for use, but if I do (& having read the above intended use) should I still do all the pest control stuff & remove the battery also? Thanks guys!!

Don't crank it up unless you are going to get it up to operating temperature! Whether stored outside or in, only crank it if you are going to drive it. For 3 winters I had my CBR 900 outside with a high quality cover on it and I had a small ceramic heater plugged in and running all the time under the bike, of course on a bike the hot air was able to circulate around the body under the cover, if only there was a good way to suspend the cover so it didn't touch the paint and allow air to circulate?????
