Please check with your mechanic. The Corvette only mechanic swears by the stuff. He said my tranny will run smoother, cooler, & quieter. Best of all, he will do it under warranty. He said that the tranny can run either the ATF or the Synchromesh. I did some checking too & found the same site, as well as other sites. I found that Pennzoil developed the product for GM; Texaco also made the same stuff. Castrol makes something similar but is not for GM transmissions. Thanks.
MY 95 6 spd Vert had a leak somewhere around 1998 and the Dealer put in Synchromesh. Until I sold it (45k miles later) I never had any problem with the tranny. It indeed smoothed out the gear noise. The dealer did this under extended warranty so they were responsible.
I don't know if the C5 trannies can handle this fluid. Hope someone will have an answer. I am inclined to use it in the future.
