[Z06] Tips for Winter storage...
1. Wash car with a very small amount of kitchen soap and water, dry with a sham
2. I took my tires off and completely cleaned the wells and because mine were just caked with flecks of rubber from burnouts. It's also gives you a chance to throughly clean your wheels. The fronts will aways look the worse.
3. I used to do this myself but now I just take the car to a local shop and have both the exterior and interior detailed. It's not that expensive. My shop cleaned and scotch guarded the carpet, treated the seats, doors and dash with a leather protectant and put a 4 year paint sealing wax on mine for 170 bucks...
4. change the oil
5. fill the gas tank
6. One pint of fuel stabilzer in your tank is enough for 20 gallons. I got some at autozone for 5 bucks.
7. Over inflate your tires to 35-36 pounds
8. WCC sells battery tenders for 30 bucks...they work great. Last year my car sat for 4 straight months and fired right up.
9. Wash, dry and apply your car cover
Hope this helps,

Thanks for posting your list. I too live in Cold Weather Country.
I have to store my car in one of those unheated 10 foot by 20 foot storage stalls. In order to avoid rust, mold, insects, etc. I purchased a CarJacket. This is a non-breathable, zippered bag that you put your car in for the winter.
Before you put it in the CarJacket you do basically what you outlined in your post, with two significant differences:
First, you must wash you car 4 to 6 days before you put in in the CarJacket. In their instruction booklet they caution against storing the car with water in the doors, mirrors, etc. This can cause rust and mold formation over the winter. So, the car must be thoroughly dry before you store it.
Second, just before you zip up the CarJacket, you place several bags of desicant in the passenger compartment, in the trunk, and under the car to remove any moisture that is in the bag after it is sealed.
They guarantee that you can remove your Vette next spring without any worries about rusty rotors, mold, mildew, or insect infestation.
Here's to April arriving quickly so we can take our cars out of storage.
P.S. - Where is Carmel?
