The same thing happened to me when I ran the 1/4 mile several times without cooling down. The problem went away for two reasons:
1. I got Landmark Chevrolet to replace the clutch under warranty
2. I now cool down under 200 degrees before going at it again
Yep, mine did it several times, GM replaced the entire clutch assembly and hydraulics under warranty. It is a design flaw having to do with the way the fluid is routed and how easily it gets overheated. You can improve things by sucking the fluid out of the resevoir regularly and replacing it with DOT 4/5 with a higher dry and wet boiling point. I finally went aftermarket.

Les, I was thinking of doing the same thing but was concerned because of the fluid comp of higher dot fluids. The higher dot fluid is working fine for you? How long have you been running it? Thanks
All of the Z06 guys that I know around here are running higher DOT fluids (that are also DOT 3 compatable) with no problems. I have used Vavoline Synthetic DOT 4 - no problems.
that happened to by buds 2001 z06 when i was drag racing it a while back. it got to where it did it every pass and made driving the car impossible. i just would take my toe and pop it back up to the top. he never could get the dealer to do anything with it, so he traded it in and the dealer wound up losing about 7500$ on it. sucks for them. they game him 37,500 on trade and auctionit 7 months later for 30,500. They have since jerked me around with my z06, and I had to drive 3.5 hours to Tom Jumper Chevy in ATL to get anytign done. I have no sympathy for my local dealer.
By the Way they are Franklin Chevrolet in Statesboro Ga if anyone wants to know where NOT to take their car for service.
haha
that hasnt happened to my 2002 z06 yet. it has acted a little funky on a couple of occasions, but nothing like that.....
