I had a B&M in my mustang at it was great. For the vette the B&M, Kirban, BPP, and Hurst are all good. I went w/ the Hurst b/c of it's adjustability and quality. It comes w/ different spring sets to adjust the side-to-side tension of the shifter. I left it at the stock settings, but loosened the allen bolt tensioners one full turn (you can loosen or tighten them one full turn from stock). I hear the B&M for the vette is the stiffest, but still very good. All said, I'm very happy w/ my Hurst. FYI there's more drivetrain noise w/ any aftermarket shifter. This is b/c the firmer feel etc. is gained at the cost of sound/vibration dampers. At WOT mine rattles a some if I don't have my hand on it, but this will go away w/ a heavier a/m shiftknob.
I have a B&M and really like it, now. I don't know about the feel of other shifters but when I put the B&M in, the shifts were really tight and I had to work, & I mean really work. I was thinking that it was a big mistake because it was a bear to shift for street driving. When I put a Momo **** on the shifter, it became the "best thing slince sliced bread". The Momo combat **** increased the length of the stick...it shifts very precisely and I have never missed a shift. At the start, I was going to get either a B&M or Breathless because I read too much about noise from the Hurst shifters. You can read about the Breathless shifter in the product reviews in this forum. By the way, there is a dealer of Momo products where I live and I did get to try the feel of many of the *****. Momo and the place where I bought the **** now has a customer for life. Let us know what you get......I think anything is better than the stock shifter, which feels like jell-o.
dont think it has any adjustments, its stiff i only had it for 3-4 weeks now and i can tell your when u or on the gas hard all u have to do is throw it up for second to third and 3rd to 4th and u dont have to worry about miss shifts at all! best 200 bucks i have spent so far
That's affirmative. There are no adjustments. The springs do get weaker over time and your right forearm may get a little stronger, especially going into reverse. What the hey it's free exercise and drivin keeps me smilin.
I just installed a Breathless last week, so far I would rate it as awesome shifter. It has lot of adjustments depending on your particular driving style. It has NO rattles or noise!!! :seeya
On the noise thing with the Hurst, I tried that 2" rubber pvc pipe end cap solution and it helped a lot. I put an MGW pistol shifter **** on it last week and that got rid of the rest--it's about the same as the stock shifter as far as noise goes at this point. While the stock shifter was okay for cruising around, it was too vague for any serious work.
