Default Billy Boat Bullets

Anyone have them on their ZO6? They're supposed to be LOUD.

Just wondered how loud. I know this is subjective but feedback is appreciated. How do they compare to Borla Stingers?

How is the workmanship?

Thanks all. You know what's getting ready to happen! The only question is what brand and model.

Certain members at the Z06.com site have installed these and the response has been that they are the loudest thing going.

I am also interested in getting the B&B Bullets...and yes they are extremely loud. I have called Billy Boat and spoke to them and was just about to call Eckler's and order them, but wanted to hear them on an actuall Z06...I posted a message on the regional forum but didn't get any reply's...so if any South Florida owners have them installed, I would love to hear them in person..I have friends up North who have them and they tell me they're the loudest out there and I have read a few reviews, some good, some not so good espicially the wokmanship, but they all agree the sound is loud and mean, even at idle.....

I too was going to get B&B's, but upon hearing from a fellow forum member, I have decided to go with the Borla's. He is a distributor and he said he has taken a lot back for warranty exchange due to weld problems and the fit not being very good...Just my $.02

I've had the Bullets on for several months now and have seen no manufacuring defects at all. These are as good as any exhaust I've seen.

As far as loud, yes they are, but I think people are exaggerating just how loud. At idle they are louder than most other systems but sound very nice. It's not like you can't have a conversation standing by the car while it's idling. Inside the car when cruising I barely notice them. When really getting on it is when you will hear the full volume and probably can't carry on a conversation (but who would want to if you're driving hard).

Overall, I think they are the absolute best sounding exhaust available for the Z06 and I think I've heard just about all of them. The workmanship is excellent and the tips are the best looking on the market IMO.

Don't have a Z06 but yes they are loud. The gaskets and bolts that come with them are a piece of crap. I don't have a problem with any of the welds. The tips are the best looking out there now.
Also the instructions that come with them fail to mention the fact thay you have to drop your sway bar but you can do a search to find out more.

Let me ask a question....if the bolts and gaskets are crap, can't they be upgraded prior to installation??? I am so close to ordering the Bullets, yet I don't want to run in to any future problems...also will an X-pipe muffle the sound a bit??

This is the first I've heard regarding defective Bullets.....There's not that much to go defective.

Yes they can. I went down to Lowes and got stainless locking nuts & washer. I also searched for a good metallic gasket but couldn't find one in any of the local stores (I'm in Hawaii). I personally did not have to remove my swaybar when I installed mine, infact it wasn't even an issue at all. Good luck with your decision, I can tell you that I am 100% happy with my B&B Bullets!

Thanks for your input..I called Billy Boat again and asked them flat out about the bolts and gaskets (not that they would say anything negitive), but they did convince me that the parts are heavy duty and non defective....I ordered my Bullets this afternoon from Ecklers with the quad tips...can't wait!!! I am installing the system with an x-pipe which should quiet it down just a bit as it is a daily driver...but even with an x-pipe, I'm expecting it to be loud and deep..... I intend to write a review as soon as I install the system.....just in case they're too obnoxious, I'm holding on to my Corsa Tiger Sharks for a few weeks.....If I like the Bullets, then I'll sell the Tiger Shark...only has 700 miles on it.....

If the clamps are the same ones on the other Band B systems.....they are crap. I finally had the joint welded instead. The second time the thing came loose I was a little ticked off! :skep:

B&B Bullets don't require any clamps since all connections are bolted. Once tightened correctly, nothing can slip. I used the supplied gaskets and am not experiencing any leaks so far. I would strongly suggest to replace the supplied nuts with non-locking ones though. Also get some self-locking washers to make it perfect.
The Bullets definitely sound deeper and louder than the Stingers. I can tell since I also drive my wife's car very often. In fact I've never heard a better sounding C5 catback exhaust, and I've tested a lot of different systems! :yesnod:
I have a Magnaflow X-pipe laying around, but decided not to install it, since the aggressiveness of the Bullets would be reduced. I like the popping on deceleration. No resonance issues over here. The Bullets make my car sound like a race car. Fit is excellent, sound quality is second to none, finish of the tips is outstanding! :hurray:

I had mine installed and did make some changes. Yes, there are quality issues with the welds. All my welds were never deburred. This was an easy fix but I feel they should never have gone out that way! I did have a problem with some of the outer flange welds. Some of the welds were too close to the flanges making it impossible to get a socket on the bolt. I ended up throwing away the bolts and nuts replacing them with S/S, along with lockwashers. Lowes carried everything I needed. The gaskets were just so and so. GM carries metal ones for $10 a piece but the inner diameter is too small for the pipes so I dicided to use what came with the system. So far no leaks. My sway bar did have to come out and remember, if you do this it is very important to tighten them down to 45 foot pounds on the top bolts and 70 foot pounds for the bottom bolts. The alignment went pretty smooth. The tips are awesome to say the least, very aggressive and mean looking. I did get the 4 tips. My only suggestion to B&B it to polish more of the adjoining pipe up to the tips so that it would give a more finished appearance from the rear. I know sound is very subjective but I can say the car does sound very much like a race car and the car definitely now gets noticed even just sitting at a light. I do have a considerable amount of resonance, more than I would like, so I am going to purchase a partition. Just starting the car up is an experience, especially in the confines of a garage. If you want a loud and aggressive sounding exhaust you will not be disappointed.

I read your write up and thats what made me interested in the Bullets in the first place....I will say Billy Boat also saw your review and mentioned it to me when I spoke to them.....I've deceided to let my local Chevy dealer install them, since there seems to be lots of conflicting reports on how to install and ease of installation.....bolts, alignment, etc...... They have already been shipped and should arrive today....but just to let you know, It was your review that sold me.... The last few posts on this topic have me worried a bit about the bolts and gaskets but I'm hoping that my dealer (who also is a tuner....Kelley Chevrolet) will know how to upgrade or get around the few problems that we may encounter.....I will let you know how it goes once their installed

A dealer should have no problems at all with this installation. Exhaust installs are very straight forward.
