I notice that Mobil 1 tends to get dark much more quickly than the conventional "dino" oils -
I would guess that the oil is browning pretty good at 1kmiles - but I never have had black oil...
I tend to change my oil much more than would be necessary due to tribological issues.
I just like to work on the dang thing! :lol: :thumbs: :chevy :steering:

Mine's getting a little darker with nearly 3000 miles on this oil change...03 ZO6.
The only time you need to worry about the color of your motor oil is when it doesn't get brown in a little time or when it looks milky looking (OMG!!), IMHO. Motor oils today are DETERGENT oils.
One of my other cars has Mobil 1 in it, a LOT of miles, uses no oil and right now, it looks black and isn't time to change it. No, I'm not worried about it.
